My friend and I flew Aero Mexico on Feb. 6 to La Paz for the fishing. FYI ... all drinks are free on Aero Mexico!

Both of us are novice anglers and really just wanted a few days in the sun and the fellowship of travel. We were extremely pleased with the fishing company called Baja Pirates and the owner, an extremely helpful and courteous young man named Francisco.

We stayed at the Marina Hotel and had a great time in their restaurants and facilities. Landscaping, pool, reminds one of Hawaii. Again, the service was genuinely warm, but so was their freezer. We caught more than 50 fish each day we went out and were told by Francisco to take our cleaned fish to the hotel for freezing. On the day of our departure we were disappointed to find the fish a little less than rock hard.

We still had more than enough filets for our needs, gave the rest to the hotel staff and enjoyed a magnificent fish dinner prepared by the hotel's cooks.

The evenings were spent walking the main drag (The Malecon) and stopping at cafes. Shopping for crafts was minimal and disappointing. Not much for tourists. This is a town for La Paz citizens.

The trip was a success, put together by a Southern Claifornia outfit called Costa Mar Sportfishing. They booked the hotel and arranged air/ground transportation. 1-800-347-2760.
