We just returned from our trip from San Diego to Cabo and back. There is now a gas station in Bahia de los Angeles. Since it supplies mostly the boats, it is by the bay and it has only a small Pemex sign. Only Magna Sin available. (I did not see if they had Diesel, but I am sure there was no Premium.)
For a couple of days there was no fuel between El Rosario and Santa Rosalia, except for the guys selling from the barrels, dirty fuel that makes you wish that you were driving an old car with a carburetor that does not care about the quality of the fuel.
I downloaded some information about the French Hotel in Santa Rosalia, stating that it was full of bugs. We stayed there twice, and it was old, but very clean, and the only animal was a Cat. I can't find were I downloaded that from, I just thought I'd offer the comment to be fair to the effort they've made in maintaining that hotel as original as possible.
The timing belt in our Escort broke close to San Ignacio. We were helped by a Canadian couple, and an American family, and they were nice to even give us their rope.
In San Ignacio there is a Mechanic shop and a big tow truck, but not parts, so we were towed to Santa Rosalia and there are plenty of automotive parts there.
I hope this information is useful to any other travelers.
The lessons we learned: We are definitely going back next year, with a higher clearance vehicle, 10 gallon fuel container, extra fuel filter, a small trailer to camp, and brand new belts in the engine. We will leave the useless cell phone at home (all we got was a recorded message to fake their customer service),
