Welcome to the Math Department!
The Department of Mathematics has more than two dozen faculty members whose research covers a broad range of specialties, including algebra, analysis, geometry, topology, mathematical physics and combinatorics. Degrees offered include Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy. The UC Riverside library has its own subscriptions to over 100 paper and electronic mathematical journals and is aggressively expanding its large selection of mathematical volumes. Computer facilities in the Department are continually updated and expanded.
A large number of doctorates have been awarded in the 50 years since the graduate program began. Graduates have been very successful in finding academic jobs at many universities and non-academic appointments with TRW, Aerospace Corporation, Hughes Aircraft, Rockwell Corporation, Northrop Corporation, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the U.S. Government.
