Guy,
Do you mean the lighthouse at Punta Arena by the airstrip? If so, I haven't been out there for a couple of years; but my experience was that there was much more traffic than my trip in the 90's. I took the dirt road that runs next to the airstrip and swung left afterwards. The sand was soft enough that I dug in a couple of times.
Its also my understanding that the hotel on the east side of the point is active again; but that may have been short lived. The dirt road past the hotel towards Muertos that has such great camping spots has been gated and closed for quite a few years now.
About 10 years ago I drove north past Ventana and Sargento and found nice secluded camping; I would suggest that. But as the name implies be prepared for some wind.
Have a great trip,
Steve

: I camped on the beach near the lighthouse about a 15 years ago. No one else ever showed up other than Mx fishermen. I never see any posts from anyone spending time out there - is it off limits? Google Earth shows no development which leads me to wonder why no one ever camps there. How is the road going out there, i seem to recall a really slow bumpy crawl - but that's what I am looking for.
