The Fourth Southern California Symposium on the Mathematics of Fluids

Saturday 29 October 2011 from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM

University of California Riverside

Getting Here, Staying Here

All talks will be held in Room 0003 in the lowest level of the Material Sciences building. This building is directly across the street from the math department (Surge building). See Campus Map. Signs directing you to the Material Sciences building should be clearly posted.

How to Find Parking

Non-UC permit holders can park in Lot 1. Go to the University Kiosk to get a daily permit for $6 and park in Lot 1, which is right near the Kiosk. Or see more details.

Those having a parking permit from a sister campus in the UC system can, in principle, park for free in any lot, in accordance with your permit. (Lot 24 is the most convenient option in this case.) In practice, however, UCR parking personnel sometimes mistakenly ticket such parkers anyway. Hence, it is safest for all parkers to first visit the University Kiosk.

Places to Stay

Though many of you will find it easiest to drive to and from UCR on the day of the symposium, following is some information on hotels in the area.

The On-Campus International Residence Center (IRC) is operated by the UCR Extension Center and offers hotel-like rooms for $60 per night for a single room. Their availability is limited, so rooms should be reserved in advance. Please E-mail one of the organizer as soon as possible if you wish to stay at the IRC and we will arrange accomodation. Parking at the UCR extension center (where the IRC rooms are located) requires the purchase of a parking permit for $5 per day.

The following hotels are only a slightly farther walk away than the IRC and offer a UCR rate (tell them you are visiting UCR when you call):

  • Comfort Inn
    1590 University Ave.
    Riverside, CA 92507
    (951) 683-6000

The grandest place to stay is beyond walking distance in downtown at the Mission Inn, which also offers a UCR rate:

  • Mission Inn
    3649 Mission Inn Ave.
    Riverside, CA 92501
    (951) 784-0300
